![]() ![]() ![]() Plugging a cable or mic (off or on) into the jack socket and using the auto sound level results in the same excessive level indicated on the meter ( mostly left channel). I get the same result if I plug in a cable with no mic connected. ![]() I get this even with the microphone switched OFF. I have had the same problem, when I connect a Rode Stereo Video Mic using manual settings I see a high level indicated in the left channel and a significant level in the right channel although less than in the left. I also have a relatively new 7D at work – same thing there.Īnyone else having this problem? Or better, a solution? Also 1.2.5 didnt have any audio meters to reveal the noise. Now, it's difficult to tell if the noise was there with FW 1.2.5, because I did not use an external mic at the time. As expected, the recordings sound noisy … The internal mic works fine, levels dropping down to zero on the meter like they should. I've tried several cables and mics and also my Sony PCM-D50 recorder. There is a huge aount of noise, especially on the right channel. That type of mic needs to be run with an attentuator to get the levels where they belong.Īfter upgrading to firmware 2.0 and plugging in an external mic in manual mode, the levels never drop to zero. It sounds like your external mike has too much gain and is not one that is campatible with your camera. Sescom makes intermediary cable with attenutate (if that's your issue) and allow you monitor at the same time. Line out from a mic and Mic In on the 7D may be at different levels. ![]()
